SAFEGUARDING

Safeguarding

It is important that St Barnabas is a safe place for everyone, but especially for children and adults who may be at risk of abuse or neglect.

Rev Canon Alan Griggs

St Barnabas takes everyone’s safety seriously. We expect everyone to follow the Church Safeguarding Policy. If anyone has a concern about someone’s safety or possible abuse, they should tell Rev Alan Griggs or our Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO) or the Diocesan Safeguarding Team straight away.

If someone is in immediate danger, call the emergency services on 999.

You can also report any concerns to the Police or Social Care.

Our dedicated Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO) at St Barnabas is Jen Allen

Jen, our PSO, is responsible for ensuring the coordination of any concerns about a child, young person, or vulnerable adult, or the behaviour of an adult working with vulnerable groups. Her role is to ensure that these concerns are appropriately reported both to the statutory agencies and to the Diocesan Safeguarding Team.  Jen works closely with our Parochial Church Council (PCC) to ensure the proper implementation of the safeguarding policy.

St Barnabas Derby is part of the Church of England, and as such, we follow their Safeguarding Policy ‘Promoting a Safer Church’. Click the button to view it.
